-He also purchases a book that increases his persuasion skill, and uses it.
-Taako convinces Garfield the Deals Warlock to give him the Flaming Poisoning Raging Sword Of Doom (an extremely overpowered weapon worth 60,000 gold that Griffin placed in the game as a joke.) for The Slicer of Tapeer-Wheer Isles.
-The trade succeeds, and Taako (a wizard who has no use for a weapon like this) immediately straps it to his back, revealing that he purchased it as a fashion accessory.
You don’t need to know DnD or even this podcast to understand how great this is. Because you can hear the moment that Griffin realizes the shit his brother is about to pull, and simultaneously that he can not only do nothing to stop it, but that he gave him the tools to pull it off so *perfectly*

how have i never heard of archive.org until today.. it’s an internet library that functions just like a real one, as in you borrow the books for 2 weeks and then they are returned to the archive. you can dl pdfs as well, but you’ll lose access after the 2 week period. it’s all free tho, literally just like a real library. i was searching for a cheap copy of this serial murder book from the 90s for my thesis and i found it for free on here. there’s like.. no gimmick at all? i’m so amazed. i literally just signed up and now i’m reading a super hq scan of this book for free. i love libraries.
Open Library also functions like this! 10/10 do recommend. I actually used this instead of buying a lot of the books for my courses in college (English major meant lots and lots of novels to read)
Add “distress” to your pain scale
Pain scale? More like pain in the booty. No two people seem to read it the same way, and chronic folks tend to downplay their pain.
So here’s an idea: when asked to rate your pain, provide a number to rate your distress levels in addition to your pain levels.
Some examples:
“I’m at a 5 on the pain scale, but my distress is basically a 1 because this is my usual.”
“I’m at a 3 on the pain scale, but my distress is a 7 because this is new pain and affects a part of my body that’s very important to my work.”
It’s a great way to consider how your pain is impacting you—and to get a doctor’s attention where it’s actually needed.

but there is archaeological proof that this is wrong. That even at our most “primitive” we cared about the well being of others.
like Shanindar 1. Shanindar 1 is a neanderthal from 35,000 to 45,000 years ago who was buried with many others in Shanindar Cave, Israel. At this point in time we had not yet developed settlements. Shanindar 1 was part of a nomadic hunter-gatherer group.
Shanindar 1 was severely disabled. From his skeleton we can gather the following
- At a young age he had suffered a blow to the face which left him blind in one eye
- He had significant hearing loss from birth deformities. One ear canal was completely blocked, while the other was only mostly blocked.
- His right, and probably dominant, arm was withered, fractured, and the bottom half amputated.
- He had a limp, possibly from a degenerative disease.
If you believe that it’s only natural to abandon the weak he should have been left to die instead of drain the group’s resources. Someone like that would have needed assistance for his entire life. He would have slowed the group down with his limp. His sensory impairments meant he would require help to spot and defend himself from predators. His arm meant he couldn’t hunt or build.
He lived well into his 40s. For a neanderthal of that era he would be considered old. His group decided that they would help him survive not because he brought anything to the group, but because he was still a person who mattered to them. Even at the end of his life he wasn’t abandoned; he was buried with dozens of others.
